Open My Eyes, Lord

1 Chronicles 28:9      “And you, my son Solomon, acknowledge the God of your father, and serve him with wholehearted devotion and with a willing mind, for the Lord searches every heart and understand every desire and every thought.  If you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will reject you forever.”   (I highlighted SEEK in each passage to stress frequency and importance)

Job 8:5, 6     If you would earnestly seek God And make your supplications to the Almighty. . . and restore you to your prosperous state

Jeremiah 29:11-13     “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.  Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.  You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart.

Isaiah 55:6     Seek the Lord while he may be found, call on him while he is near.

Matthew 7:7, 8     “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.   ****

Luke 11:9     “So I say to you; Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and it will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

Hebrews 11:6      And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

Revelations 3:20     Behold, I stand at the door and knock. . . if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come into him and dine with him, and he with Me.

I was raised in church but must admit it was not a bible teaching church.  Many of the friends, family I have who were also raised there, have left that particular teaching and sought other churches that do stress bible teaching, as well as encouraging their members to read the Word for themselves.  Others who were also raised in that first church environment have chosen not to have anything to do with church.

Many, including myself at one time, have tried to change God’s words over the years to suit our desires.  But He has not changed since He created all.   He is constant, loving, patient, and His statutes are for our protection.   How confusing and horrific the world seems now with youngsters saying they want to be a different sex than their birth sex.  Parents, do you remember the joy you felt when you held that son or daughter for the first time.  It’s humbling!  And now, for a few moments that child wants to change its sex?  God does not make mistakes.  What happens a few years after the “change”  —   (in my growing years, change meant menopause.)  BUT now means that what God created with care, precision, and love can be surgically changed.  But when those chromosomes rise and now this daughter is a son?  Or vice versa.  What happens with this daughter who has now been made into a “son” decides she really wants to birth a child.  I cannot even guess how the suicide rate will soar, when it is already so very high in this country.   He made us the way He wanted us to be, and never said it was okay to change to something He never created, or to sin because this seems to fill our desires…

I remember reading the “ask, knock, and seek” long time ago from Matthew 7:7,8.  I believed at the time, that since I believed in Jesus, that ANYTHING I asked would be granted.  Not so.  There’s another bit that says it must be according to God’s will for your life. . . So, what is that?  What is God’s will for MY life?  I missed that the first couple of times reading through the bible.  So, I had to reconsider Matthew 7:7,8 and Luke 11:9. . . I had to realize God is NOT Santa Claus.  He wants me to sincerely and truly be seeking a RELATIONSHIP with Him.  He does not want me, us, to be beseeching Him like He is Santa Claus.  He is God Almighty, Creator of the entire world, and galaxies.

Understanding increased, dawning brightened my dark thoughts, and I began to yearn for more.   I still had difficulty with much in the first 5 books of the bible, BUT. . . I kept at it.  I listened to bible teachers—Charles Stanley, David Jeremiah, Joyce Meyer, Andy Stanley and my understanding grew.  I, too, at one point was one to say, “that was said 2000 years ago, times have changed.”   Yes, 2000 and more years ago these words were written . . .  but as of this moment, God has not said to His world, “Ok, never mind.  You can do damaging things to yourselves. . . drink too much, overeat, starve yourself, cut yourself, smoke cigarettes, pot, crack and more, or go and enjoy sex with multiple partners.  I created sex with Adam Eve so you could enjoy.   Go, spread the wealth.”  GOD HAS NOT SAID THAT, NOT EVER.   NO MATTER HOW WE HAVE DECIDED TO INTERPRET OR CHANGE HIS WORDS; THEY STAND.  THEY ARE THE SAME THEN AS NOW.  HE HAS NOT WRITTEN AN ADDENDUM.

We are born with is an inborn desire to know God, or some higher being.  There are some persons who recognize they are missing something. . . Some fill the desires with phone, social media, games, drugs, alcohol, gambling, and other means of distraction; and therefore, don’t find the TRUE fulfillment of the emptiness in their lives.  The knocking and seeking and having our requests answered is to FIND, Know, LOVE and REVERE God in the entirety, and then our wishes, desires will be fulfilled in His will.  He does have a plan for happiness, safety and good things for those who believe in Him.

These verses of knocking and seeking are about us looking for Him.   Or as Pierre du Plassis suggested in a devotional I heard a few days ago; perhaps it is Jesus knocking on your door, He is seeking you.   Most of us interpret the ask, seek, knock (ASK) verses that it is us seeking God.  But perhaps it is Jesus seeking us.   It doesn’t matter to me if I found Jesus because I was seeking, or if He was seeking me.  The bottom line is I win all the way around with the relationship I have with Jesus.

I am so grateful I persisted at reading my bible, was led by some television preachers, found bible teaching churches and ministers who preached only bible truths, I persistently read and tried to understand, and I was able to expand my knowledge.  You answered my knock, my seeking.   As always, my Lord and God, thank You for all you have done for me and ‘mybellaviews.’
